On April 8, I left Playbill.com after 15 years as a reporter and editor there. It’s a positive move for me, made even sweeter by the generous response of people who value character, integrity, creativity, perspective and experience.
I’m especially proud of my reporting about new plays, new musicals, new writers, new directors, new designers and the wide, rich world of not-for-profit resident theatre. I also loved interviewing some of my heroes, including Stephen Sondheim, Cy Coleman, Ahrens & Flaherty, Comden & Green, Jerry Herman, John Kander, Maury Yeston, Charles Strouse and Lee Adams, and many others.
Editing gifted writers including Robert Simonson, Steven Suskin, Harry Haun, Brandon Voss, and Michael Gioia was a pleasure — and made me a better writer.
I’m freelance myself now, remaining intensely committed to new work as well as my own dramatic-writing projects. If you want to be in touch, I’m on Facebook, Twitter @ByKennethJones and, of course, right here at ByKennethJones.com.
